The article discusses the role and limitations of in-car Voice Assistants (VAs) in automotive user interface design. It presents a study investigating the effectiveness of an in-car Robot Assistant (RA) offering functionalities beyond voice interaction. The research includes a user survey, non-driving and on-road experiments, subjective ratings of the RA’s personality, and exploration of potential ethical risks.
