The paper presents a participatory map-making workshop for middle school students in Savannah, Georgia. The workshop was part of the Youth Advocacy for Resilience to Disasters (YARD) program. The students created maps examining local natural disasters and their effects. A map-making platform was developed for the workshop, facilitating the students to use spatial data on local environmental, economic, and social issues. This approach allowed students to share their experiences of the city, providing a bridge between data and experience. The paper suggests that such a platform can help youth understand and communicate their knowledge and experiences.
