The article presents DECORAIT, a decentralized registry that allows content creators to control their participation in AI training and receive compensation for their contributions. Generative AI (GenAI) uses large amounts of data from public sources to create synthesized images. However, this raises concerns about data governance and the rights of content creators. DECORAIT addresses these issues by allowing creators to manage their consent for AI training and ensuring they are fairly recognized and rewarded for their contributions. The system uses a combination of distributed ledger technology (DLT) and visual fingerprinting to trace the provenance of GenAI training data.
