This research explores the use of Haru, a tabletop social robot, for fostering positive behavior change through the Tiny Habits method. The study focuses on developing an autonomous dialogue system that enhances Haru’s emotional expressiveness and unique personality. The effectiveness of the dialogue system was evaluated in an experimental study with human participants. The results indicated a significant improvement in perceptions of Haru’s liveliness, interactivity, and neutrality. The study contributes to the broader understanding of dialogue design in social robotics.
