The study focuses on indoor air pollution, a key factor in respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. The researchers conducted a three-month-long field study in over 28 indoor spaces using their custom-built DALTON air quality sensor and monitoring system. The study found that traditional measures like the Indoor Air Quality Index (IAQI) don’t fully capture the complexities of indoor air quality dynamics. As a result, they proposed the Healthy Home Index (HHI), a new metric that considers context and household activities, offering a more comprehensive understanding of indoor air quality. The findings suggest that HHI provides a more accurate air quality assessment, highlighting the potential for wide-scale deployment of the indoor air quality monitoring platform.
