The article discusses a study aimed at understanding pedestrian perceptions of Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) during unmarked midblock multilane crossings. The study used Virtual Reality (VR) to simulate different AV behaviors and signal indications, and surveyed participants before and after their VR experience. The results showed an overall increase in positive attitudes and trust towards AVs after the VR experiment. The study concludes that immersive VR settings can effectively improve pedestrian engagement and perception of AVs.
