The article introduces ‘latrend’, an R package developed for clustering longitudinal data, which is data gathered from the same subjects over a period of time. This type of clustering allows for the exploration of common trends among subjects for a numeric measurement of interest. ‘Latrend’ provides a unified application of methods for longitudinal clustering, enabling researchers to easily compare different methods with minimal coding. It also serves as an interface to commonly used packages for clustering longitudinal data. This tool is particularly useful for exploring datasets with a large number of trajectories. The authors demonstrate the functionality of the latrend package on a synthetic dataset based on therapy adherence patterns of patients with sleep apnea.
