This article reviews the recent advances in intelligent robotic ultrasound (US) imaging systems and the use of machine learning techniques in their development. The authors discuss the robotic mechanisms and control techniques used in robotic US imaging and their clinical applications. They also explore the methods for achieving autonomous action reasoning in these systems, and the challenges related to data scarcity, understanding physical aspects, and effective data representation. The article concludes with a discussion of open problems in the field and potential future research directions.
