The research explores the use of monocular 2D markerless motion capture (MMC), utilizing a single smartphone to measure aspects such as jump height, velocity, flight time, contact time, and range of motion during motor tasks. Comparisons were made with optical motion capture (OMC) and force plates. Results showed that MMC had excellent agreement with ground truth for jump height and velocity measurements, although performace varied for other measurements. The study suggests that MMC could be an alternative to OMC or force plates for certain sports performance assessments.
