The article discusses the development of MULTI-CASE, a visual analytics framework designed to address ethical and privacy concerns in intelligence analysis and investigative journalism. It combines human and AI capabilities to explore and evaluate heterogeneous information spaces. The framework operates on an integrated data model and includes multiple linked components for type-specific analysis. It provides in-situ explanations, transparent source attribution, and facilitates effective exploration. The framework’s effectiveness was evaluated in a case study in an investigative journalism setting, supporting war crime investigations.
