The article discusses the development of an automated insulin delivery system called the Metabolic Operating System. This system was created to help individuals with Type 1 Diabetes manage their condition more effectively. The system is designed with security first principles, which simplify the core system and isolate non-critical functionality from the core closed-loop algorithm. Multiple layers of redundancy are also built into the system to ensure user safety. The system has proven effective in managing Type 1 Diabetes in real-world scenarios. The source code for the system is open source and available on GitHub.
