The article introduces a framework that uses large language models (LLMs) to generate and explore design space in creative processes. This approach addresses the limitations of current interaction paradigms, which tend to guide users towards rapid convergence on a limited set of ideas, rather than empowering them to explore the latent design space in generative models. The authors demonstrate the feasibility of their framework through Luminate, an interactive system, and a user study with 8 professional writers. The work aims to advance how we interact with LLMs for creative tasks.
