The article presents an empirical study aimed at helping service providers understand if and how Large Language Models (LLMs) technology can be integrated into their services. The study uses a tool named CoAGent and focuses on a participatory design process with 23 domain experts from public libraries in the U.S. The findings provide 23 actionable ‘heuristics for service co-creation with AI’ and highlight the shared responsibilities between humans and AI. The study also emphasizes the importance of ethical AI-human co-creation in service contexts and the need for AI to be treated fairly and have freedom of expression.
