This research investigates the effect of different illumination levels on architectural experiences using a combination of self-reported assessments and neurophysiological measurements. Participants were exposed to various illumination conditions in a virtual reality environment, with their responses and brain activity measured. The findings show that illumination levels significantly affect cognitive engagement and architectural experience. This study underscores the importance of thoughtful daylighting design in positively influencing occupants’ cognitive and emotional states in built environments.
