The article presents a study on a partitioned convolution algorithm for rendering sound in virtual and augmented reality environments. The algorithm is designed to convolve audio signals in real-time with impulse responses that change over time. This process requires short latencies, moderate computational cost, and memory footprint, and should not produce perceptible switching artifacts. The algorithm is designed to switch between impulse responses quickly without introducing perceptible artifacts, while maintaining a constant computational load and low memory usage. The report includes implementations in several popular programming languages, available on GitHub.
