The study investigates the usability and adoption of graphical data-driven development tools in comparison to traditional textual methods. Despite the potential benefits of graphical direct manipulation, the study reveals that users’ subjective perception does not always align with these benefits. The results underline the importance of not only focusing on usability but also addressing the specific demands and preferences of the target user group for successful long-term adoption.
