The paper provides a quantitative analysis of Google’s Topics API, a proposed alternative to third-party cookies for interest-based advertising (IBA). The study focuses on the re-identification risk for individual Internet users, using the framework of Quantitative Information Flow (QIF). Preliminary results indicate that the Topics API offers better privacy than third-party cookies. The utility analysis of the API is left for future research.
