This research examines the impact of peer acknowledgement on learner engagement and psychological attributes in social annotations on an online reading platform. The study reveals a correlation between higher peer acknowledgements and increased initiation of annotations and responses. Psychological themes such as positive affect, openness to learning, and expression of motivation were identified as factors encouraging peer acknowledgement. The findings aim to assist educators in enhancing online learning communities and provide guidance for technology developers in creating effective prompts.
