The article discusses a study conducted to assess the utility of the All_Aboard mobile app in assisting blind and visually impaired (BVI) individuals to locate bus stops. Traditional methods such as GPS and digital maps often have inaccuracies, resulting in gaps between the actual and indicated bus stop location. The All_Aboard app uses a neural network model to detect bus-stop signs in real-time and provides audio feedback to help localize the detected sign. The study found that the All_Aboard app was significantly more accurate and reliable in localizing bus stops compared to GPS-based smartphone navigation options.
