The article presents FiloBass, a corpus of music scores and annotations focusing on the role of the double bass in jazz. It comprises 48 manually verified transcriptions of professional jazz bassists, with over 50,000 note events. The work aims to enrich understanding of jazz bass lines through a corpus-based musical analysis. The FiloBass dataset is seen as a significant step towards a fully annotated performance dataset for a jazz quartet setting, highlighting the critical role of the bass in jazz.
