This study investigates the gaze movements of middle-skilled and high-skilled FPS gamers during gameplay. A Python tool was developed to analyze gaze movements in real-world gaming environments. The study found that reaction time was positively correlated with task accuracy and that high-skilled players utilize peripheral vision during gameplay. The study also found a positive correlation between gaze locations in less important areas and the kill/death/assist ratio. The performance was determined by the important areas where the gaze was focused rather than by the coordination of gaze position alone. The study suggests that a broader range of environments is necessary to comprehend the superior performance of FPS gamers.
