The article provides an in-depth analysis and modification of twist-based algorithms for determining the key length of a Vigen `ere cipher. It introduces a new twist-based algorithm, the twist++algorithm, which is shown to be more accurate than the previous twist+algorithm across a range of key lengths and text lengths. The authors also discuss how the domain of the twist index affects the accuracy of these algorithms. The Vigen `ere cipher is a classical topic in cryptology and plays a significant role in polyalphabetic substitution ciphers.
