SpeakEasy is a chatbot developed by a team of researchers. It’s designed to help improve the user’s communication skills by engaging in a seven-minute spoken conversation, analyzing the user’s responses, and providing feedback on how they can improve. The chatbot converses on a range of topics that two people meeting for the first time might discuss. It records the user’s speech, transcribes the audio into tokens, and uses sequences to evaluate the quality of the conversation. The team’s goal is to help users improve their communication skills, which are crucial for job prospects and maintaining relationships. The target audience for SpeakEasy is college students.
