The paper presents the ISENSE project aimed at assisting deaf students by offering technological tools for teaching sign language. It discusses the development of an application for Spanish and Italian sign language recognition that leverages the Virtual Reality environment to create a comprehensive database of signs and an AI-based software for accurate classification and recognition of static and dynamic signs. The use of Virtual Reality has been shown to improve retention, memory, and attention during the learning process, and is thus an effective tool for teaching sign language.
