The article discusses the need for enhanced cyber-security in smart seaports. With the increasing volume of goods and demand for efficiency, cyber-security has become a primary concern. The authors propose a solution called TwinPot, a Digital Twin (DT) assisted honeypot system, for external attacks in smart seaports. This system can provide valuable information about the attackers and help tackle both internal and external attacks. The authors also propose an intelligent attack detection mechanism using DT technology for internal attacks. The effectiveness of these systems is tested using an extensive smart seaport dataset for internal and external attacks.
