The research paper, ‘What Makes a Fantastic Passenger-Car Driver in Urban Contexts?’ explores the evaluation of driving behaviors crucial for optimizing autonomous driving technology. The study involved 10 expert drivers and 14 novice drivers completing a 5.7-kilometer urban road driving task, followed by interviews with the drivers and their passengers. The analysis provided insights into the logic of driving behaviors, efforts to achieve good driving, and the gaps between drivers’ and passengers’ perspectives. These findings contribute to the systematic evaluation of autonomous driving and future vehicle design.
