This article discusses the development of an AR-based ultrasound biopsy navigation system. The system, developed by researchers from Tsinghua University and Medivis Inc., uses augmented reality to integrate real-time ultrasound data and spatial navigation information, improving the speed and accuracy of biopsy procedures. The system showed a low latency and high accuracy in tests, with 98% and 95% success rates for out-of-plane and in-plane biopsies respectively. The authors conclude that the system could help younger surgeons perform biopsies more accurately and quickly.
